HISTORY
Special District Solutions opened its doors in 2016 with the goal of helping Special Districts in Colorado with accounting, management, and administrative functions. Today, Special District Solutions works with multiple special districts throughout Colorado providing accounting, management and administrative functions.
Leadership
At the helm of Special District Solutions is Kurt Schlegel. Kurt is uniquely equipped with a history of military and public service to understand issues that face special districts today. Not only is he a wealth of knowledge in this area, he is eager to share insights on how best to help each district be successful. Kurt’s abilities include conducting and leading governmental / business meetings efficiently and effectively, and facilitating disparate groups of individuals to develop mutually beneficial business and operational plans.
Biography
Kurt has been active in local and state government roles, as well as Special Districts since 1981. He has worked with both municipal and county governments in a variety of positions and completed a term in office as an elected Elbert County, CO Commissioner. Kurt is also a Director with the Elkhorn Ranch Metropolitan District #1, and has been in a leadership role with that District since 2006.
Retired United States Marine Corps Officer; alumnus of the Leadership Program of the Rockies – Class of 2011, Special District Association of Colorado’s 2015 Leadership Academy; and Colorado Foundation for Water Education’s Water Fluency 2015. Organized and led his own Consulting firm from 2000 through 2015 after retiring from the Aurora Fire Department as a Battalion / Division Chief.
